The Administrative Services Division's primary mission is to provide support services to the Field and Special Operations Divisions. This mission is primarily accomplished through civilian employees who provide such support functions as hiring of personnel, purchasing, property/evidence, planning and research, training, payroll, internal affairs, risk management, dispatch, reports, budget, records, fleet and facility maintenance, grants and special funding. Administrative Analyst I/II – Crime
Performs a variety of professional level duties and responsibilities involved in the collection, analysis and dissemination of crime statistics and information.

Accounting Technician
Performs a variety of technical accounting duties involved in accounts payable and receivable, procurement of departmental supplies and resources for field operations, and payroll administration.

Administrative Technician
Performs a variety of responsible and complex administrative and financial duties involved in the review, research and tracking of fiscal, statistical and administrative information including payroll reporting for the Police Department.

Cadet (part-time)
The Cadet Program is designed to introduce recent high school graduates (ages 17 to 20 ½) to a law enforcement career and to prepare them for entry into the police academy. Under direct supervision the cadet position performs a wide variety of police support duties and clerical assistance for the Fontana Police Department.

Community Policing Technician
Implements and monitors a variety of community policing, crime prevention, and public awareness programs for the community.

Community Service Officer
Under general supervision performs a wide variety of non-sworn field and office law enforcement work in support of Police activities including traffic and parking control, crime investigation assistance, dispatch/call taking and other public service activities.

Computer Forensics Technician
Performs a variety of technical duties and responsibilities involved in identifying, collecting and processing evidence stored on computers or other electronic devices. Provides technical assistance to sworn police personnel as needed.

Dispatch Call Taker
Under general supervision performs a variety of general duties involved in receiving emergency and non-emergency calls by telephone, including 9-1-1 system, determines situations, elicits necessary information and relays essential information to dispatchers, staff and other agencies as needed; performs a variety of general support duties related to dispatch activities including record keeping, typing and filing; and monitoring teletype communications.

Dispatcher
Performs a variety of duties involved in receiving incoming calls for police and emergency assistance and dispatching necessary units; performs a variety of general support duties related to dispatch activities including record keeping, typing and filing; and monitors teletype communications.

Dispatcher/On-Call
Performs a variety of duties involved in receiving incoming calls for police emergency assistance and dispatching necessary units; performs a variety of general support duties related to dispatch activities including record keeping, typing and filing; and monitors teletype communications.

Emergency Services Technician
Under general direction and supervision of Police Emergency Services staff, performs a variety of specialized duties and responsibilities assisting in the planning and coordinating of multi-hazard emergency preparation, response and recovery activities in support of the City’s Office of Emergency Services.

Evidence Technician
Performs a variety of technical duties and responsibilities involved in identifying, collecting and processing crime scene evidence; prepares reports and documents crime scene investigation activities; and provides technical assistance to sworn police personnel as needed.

Maintenance Coordinator
Coordinates and organizes the maintenance, repair and servicing of Police vehicles, buildings and equipment.

Officer Trainee
This is a non-sworn trainee position in which incumbents do not gain regular status. Promotion to Police Officer is contingent upon successful completion of the basic academy and review by the Chief of Police. During training, incumbents do not have police powers but are subject to the rules and regulations of the Fontana Police Department and the police academy attended. Incumbent may be assigned non-safety duties in the Police Department during training.

Property Control Clerk
Performs a variety of clerical duties involved in the receiving, preserving, storing and disposal of property and evidence collected in the course of police operations and investigations in accordance with specific laws, rules, regulations and policies.

Records Clerk
Performs a wide variety of responsible and complex clerical duties; handles registration of sex, arson, and drug offenders; interacts with and assists department personnel, other law enforcement agencies and the public with requests for information.

Reserve Police Officer
Reserve Police Officers assist regular officers patrolling assigned portions of the city in the prevention of crime and in the enforcement of law and order. Patrol duties may be with a regular officer, another Reserve Officer, or by yourself, depending upon the Reserve Officers classification level. Level III Reserve Officers can only work in a support role not requiring the use of general peace officer powers. Level II and Level I Reserve Officers may work field or other support assignments requiring the use of peace officer powers.

Secretary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of responsible clerical duties in support of the Police Department and City management staff; and may exercise functional and technical supervision over lower level clerical staff.

Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician
Performs repair of various types of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; including installation, alteration and maintenance. Will also perform skilled tasks in general facility maintenance, repairs and facility renovation.

Training & Recruitment Clerk
Assists in the coordination of Police Department training programs, maintenance of computerized training records, recruiting and hiring process for lateral and reserve program police personnel.

Training Specialist
Performs a variety of specialized and responsible work in the administration, processing, and coordination of a comprehensive police training program. Provides technical assistance to outside agencies, city departments and Police staff
